Ashley, my features editor at Pure Wander, recently went on a colorful and sultry trip to Loreto, Mexico. She shares her experience below!
Is there anything more romantic than walking hand-in-hand on a private beach next as colors burst overhead during the sunset? Pinks, yellows and oranges paint the sky until the sun almost disappears, then purple hues arrive and slowly fade to black. But the beauty doesn’t end there—so many stars appear that you’re sure the Million Star Resort nickname is apropos.
Villa del Palmar in Loreto, Mexico whispers promises of adventure and romance in a tropical paradise, far removed from any and everything else.
The same beach that provides those killer sunsets can make an amazing place to say “I do”. The smooth blue water in front of the resort makes a gorgeous backdrop and Villa del Palmar’s special touches, like a canopy covered in flowing white chiffon and matching white chairs. Each wedding package has a little something special thrown in.
Recently, as the resort works to build a golf course, weddings have been performed on the driving range behind the hotel. Located on a sloping hillside, the view as the sun sets is just as spectacular.
The Spa Director Claudine Riemer, who doubles as a minister, performs the ceremonies herself. Villa del Palmar’s Sabila Spa also offers wedding packages so the bride and groom can get in relaxation mode as well as get hair and make-up done on their big day.
Once the sky gets dark, sit back at one of the fire pits and enjoy the sheer amount of bright stars that dot the night sky. You may have the chance to write your wishes on a paper lantern before releasing it into the sky.
Following the big night, Villa del Palmar goes above and beyond to make your first night as a married couple a special one. Hotel employees decorate the beds with beautiful designs in red and white rocks and, depending on your wedding package, provide turndown service, complete with drawing a warm bath and providing champagne.
While any room will be spectacular for your first night together, the Danzante Bungalow is really something special. Set mere footsteps from the shoreline, the bungalow offers couples a chance to get closer to nature and spend some alone time together. Inside, along with the king size bed and full bathroom, there is a television and air conditioning. The private deck out front has a table, lounge chairs and a hot tub. Don’t forget to try out the telescope inside as you stargaze.
Relaxing at the Spa
Whether you’re newlyweds or just a couple searching for romance, the Sabila Spa is the way to go. Make sure to sign up for the couple’s massages and Canberra sauna for some quality relaxation time.
The dim lighting and soft music playing in the massage rooms sets the mood and the masseuses definitely make you feel at home, altering their technique based on your specifications. The use of aromatherapy during the massages definitely gives it that extra special touch.
Cities like Cancun and Cabo offer plenty of romantic options, but with the sultry serenity of Loreto, I can’t imagine there could be a couple that wouldn’t enjoy their time together at Villa del Palmar.
